· New livery brings together old and new
· Celebration of contribution of trams to Sheffield’s profile
This month marks 50 years since the last Sheffield Corporation tram made its final journey through the City streets. To mark this occasion and to celebrate the enormous contribution that trams have made over the years to the city’s profile, Stagecoach, operators of the more modern Supertram, have brought together the old and the new with a period livery for one of their vehicles.
The former Sheffield Corporation livery of azure blue and cream, which now transforms tram 120, was launched this week by Stagecoach Light Rail Managing Director Tim Shoveller, Supertram General Manager Glenn Stocks and Director of Customer Experience for SYPTE David Young.
Tim Shoveller said: “Throughout the years, trams have played a hugely important role in Sheffield and they continue to do so. We’re pleased to be able to combine old and new with this new livery and hope people will enjoy using this tram as it serves the city.”
The new design will remain in service until the end of the year.
