The Olympic Torch in Sheffield

As well as the relay procession of the actual Torch there will be various festivities taking place.

During the daytime there will be fun for all the family in Sheffield City Centre on Devonshire Green, Tudor Square and Barkers Pool.

The torch is due to arrive at Hillsborough at 17:40hrs and the relay will pass through Hillsborough Park on its way into the City Centre. (Hillsborough Park has a tram stop on the Yellow route). There will be a community celebration in Hillsborough Park from 15:00hrs ahead of the Torch’s arrival.

There will be rolling road closures to accommodate the Olympic Flame that will disrupt road traffic, however it is not expected to affect Supertram services.

There will also be a celebration in the City Centre in Barkers Pool (outside the City Hall) from 16:00hrs which will culminate in the arrival of the Olympic torch at around 20:00hrs. The nearest tram stop is City Hall, on the Blue and Yellow routes.

The torch will leave the City the following morning (Tuesday 26th June) from Don Valley Stadium at 07:30hrs via Don Valley Bowl. These locations are served by the Arena/Don Valley Stadium tram stop on the Yellow route.

Please note timings are approximate, the route is likely to be busy and organisers are advising people to get there early to avoid disappointment. For more information please visit www.welcometosheffield.co.uk
